time flies, i have been working in hsa for 1 month! not really sure when's my last day, i will leave when the sch needs me back. but i have to be back in sch latest by first week of aug for safety orientation. lectures and safety tests. SIAN. and this morning i got a very long email from sch regarding fyp projects, project listings coming out on 1st of july. and we were advised to approach more profs just in case we cant get any of our choices. im very sian about this prof searching thing already. pls just give me the project that i want. i think i will be damn sad if i cant get this particular project. :( argh, seriously not looking forward to final year, esp after hearing so many horror stories from my intern friend. anw my intern friend is mostly likely going back to sch to do her masters. i feel marginally happier now that i will be seeing another familiar face in sch. and as for work tml, i will go to the cold room in the morning to sort out my supervisor's standards. the temp in the cold room is 4 degrees celsius, and it's very very cold. i can only stay in there for at most 10 mins. haha. but it's quite shiok. then in the afternoon, my supervisor and i will meet to discuss about the next part of the project, hopefully i can work out the dilution factor and prepare the mobile phase tml. and i can do sample preparation and use the HPLC this week again. oh yay! :D Tuesday, June 09, 2009 i dont know anyone in the honours class, except for one. many of those i know of are not doing honours. :( sigh, not sure how im going to survive the next 2 sems. plus those names that i saw are the really smart and elite ones, im probably the only dumb one who went ahead with doing honours, despite knowing the fact that im already at the bottom of the class. im really regretting right now, should have exit at the end of year 3. i guess im kinda accustomed to my life right now, waking up early in the morning for work, if there's stuff for me to do or expt to run, im happy, and if there isnt anything for me to do, me and my friend will chit-chat or surf the net. 12.30pm comes and we go for our lunch, 6pm comes and we pack our stuff to go home, bath, have dinner, watch tv, surf the net and go to bed. weekend comes and i use it to catch up on my sleep. so the thought of going back to sch in 2 months' time makes me sian 1/2, evil profs, working in the lab on weekends, and probably staying overnight in sch to run expt, struggling with my studies, and the list goes on. and i have a feeling that the prof might just pangseh me at the end of the day over a better student, i can assure you that you can easily find one who is better than me anytime. sighhh. and i know this is random but i have to say this, my brother is the biggest asshole on the entire planet. i hope he can just stfu. Saturday, June 06, 2009 started on my expt this week, and i managed to get good and reproducible results. yay! moving on to the next part of the project next week, hopefully i can finish everything before i leave. the lab im in is a really cool place, lots of interesting instrus, much better than the ones in sch. and we can wear skirts, pumps, leggings etc in the lab, the best part is, none of the lab ppl wear googles. cool huh? most of the ppl there are really nice, some of them are drs but they have no airs at all, and i got a really nice supervisor, as well as a lab officer whose helping me out on the project. yay! there werent much for me to do for the first 2 weeks, so i spent most of the time reading the articles that my supervisor has assigned me to read, and chatting with my fellow intern mate, who is from nus and posted to the same lab as me. thank god i had someone with me, if not i would really be bored to death with no one else to talk to cos all the LOs and SOs are very busy. and our favourite pastime is to go to the resource room to use our laptop, bitching about sch, and the evil profs in our department. hehe. and last friday, we found another way to pass time in the lab, that is to take stupid photos. LOL. we went round looking for glassware, my friend found this huge glass funnel which was big enough to be placed on the head, we wore it as a hat and started taking photos of each other. hahahaa!! we almost died laughing. if the lab manager saw what we were doing in the lab, she'll probably faint. :p |
